Transition Programme

The Behaviour Detectives Transition Programme is a service aiming to support early school leavers and/or young adults who generally present with anxiety, self-isolation and little to no community inclusion. Our primary Client group includes but is not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or a Mild to Moderate Intellectual disability, and an age range of 18 years to 25 years (at the time of entering the program).

Whilst acknowledging the individuality and preferences of each Client and their needs. We provide opportunities and encouragement for the Client to make positive choices about their future planning and identify individual values through a person-centred approach.  It focuses on improving the quality of life and assists with transitioning into adulthood. Input from Behaviour Detectives can begin either at home, in the Transition Programme base (Naas) and/or in the community and would target the following areas:

• Independent Living Skills

• Further Education and Employment

• Social Skills and Community Participation

• ASD Awareness, Rights and Responsibilities

To best support our Clients and in line with the HSE’s New Directions approach, we utilise evidence-based approaches such as:

• Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)/ Positive Behaviour Support;

• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

• Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

The focus is on supporting individuals to identify and address/ overcome the barriers to accessing further opportunities and community access. Each Clients goals are person-centred and outcomes can include transitioning to a full-time Day Service, Further education and/or employment.
